Ecobat

The New 2-Step Ecobat

Please read:

Thank you for your patience as the new Ecobat has come into operation. We have taken note of user experience of the app and have changed it to a 2 step process in order to improve the app’s running and user experience.

Our Ecobat team will be away and unable to answer any enquiries until the 16th of August.  For any troubleshooting issues, please consult our Ecobat Troubleshooting page. Thank you again for your patience.

App 1: PreBat App

  1. Upload your proforma in csv format as normal to the PreBat App. This will save your data to the database.
  2. You will receive a Receipt with a unique user identifier code this is needed to generate your report so please save the receipt in a safe place where you can find it again.
  3. Please only upload your data once to avoid duplication in the database, if you have a problem, contact us at app@themammalsociety.org

Please note in order for your data to save correctly, only one user can save data at a time. If you wait a few minutes and the app does not appear it may be that another user is saving data so please check back.

App 2: PostBat App

  1. Copy and paste your user identifier code into the box provided. This needs to be identical to the copy in the database so we advise that you copy and paste it directly from the receipt rather than typing it out yourself.
  2. Select your geographic and time filters as usual.
  3. Your report will generate in a few minutes.
  4. You can do this step as many times as you like because your data is not saving during the PostBat App.

Multiple users can use this app at the same time, wait a few moments and it should load.

If you have any questions about the apps or your report, you can contact us on app@themammalsociety.org

Resources

Please download the new proforma here.

Before using Ecobat, please read through the Ecobat Help Guide here. Whether new to Ecobat or a previous user, it would help to look through the guide as there are some changes to the way Ecobat now runs.

If your report fails to run, please contact us on app@themammalsociety.org with your proforma attached.

If you need to run a Per Night analysis (you do not have specific pass times for your data) you can still do this from the original ecobat.org.uk site. We are working on bringing this app in line with the new Within Night one.

Ecobat Troubleshooting Page

I don’t want to save my data as it is already in the database, how do I use the app?

  • If you have already saved your data to the new Ecobat database, email app@themammalsociety.org with the name, email and timestamp (found in report) associated with your data and we will find your identifier.
  • If you only used the old app on ecobat.org.uk and have not uploaded data to the new app on this website there is a version that will run by uploading your csv here.

App 1: PreBat

By submitting your proforma to the Ecobat app you agree to the saving of your email address in the event the Ecobat team need to contact you. The Mammal Society transfers data to local or national record centres in order to improve understanding of British mammals. Data inputted into our website is transmitted to the National Biodiversity Network via the Biological Records Centre unless you have specifically indicated that you do not wish your data to be shared. For further details click here. You can also find a link to the Mammal Society GDPR page here.

If the app does not appear after a minute, please try again later it may be that someone else is running a report. To ensure that your data saves correctly, the app can only run one user report at a time.

App 2: PostBat

This app may take a moment to load.
