Dormice and Development – Online

October 20, 2023 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm

More information and booking via Eventbrite

Designed for consultants or those needing to learn about dormouse legislation and how to detect and protect dormice on potential development sites. This online course includes the essentials of dormouse ecology as well as how to survey for this protected species. Using case studies of potential development scenarios, it covers what must be done if dormice are found on a site, from licence requirements and suitable mitigation to ongoing monitoring.

*Dormice licenses are issued by Natural England and NRW. Two licensed referees are required for any application. As references should be based on observation of a person’s skills over an extended period of time, The Mammal Society do not provide references. We do however provide a CPD certificate confirming completion of the training. The trainer may also sign relevant section of the PTES Dormouse Training Log provided the delegate has shown competency and the skill being assessed can be adequately demonstrated under the conditions of a training course.

This course will be held on Zoom with up to 20 participants and will conclude with a quiz of subjects covered that day.

Trainer: David Wells

*Please note – If not enough delegates book on to this course it may be postponed with two weeks notice, this is because we are a small charity and need to make sure our events are viable.
