Our Current Projects Hub is an online database of conservation and research projects covering all aspects of mammalogy. Learn about what others are doing and volunteer to help by viewing the Hub here.
BAP Mammal Research Requirements
Our BAP Mammals Surveys and Mitigation Interim Guidelines (available to buy online through NHBS) provide up to date in depth best practive advice for surveying and protecting 8 priority (BAP) mammals, for which guidance was previously unavailable. It has information on biology, habitat requirements, status and distribution, legislative protection, BAP status and recommended actions, survey methodologies and EIA: mitigation, compensation and enhancement.
For these 8 BAP species there are requirements for further research, which need prioritising to revise best practice, evaluate new survey methods, and address the conservation challenges these species face. We encourage researchers to focus on such gaps for these BAP mammals.
- Hare (Brown & Mountain)
- Harvest mouse
- Pine marten
- Red squirrel
A more comprehensive list of research requirements for all species will be compiled and published online as gaps are identified.
If your research will cover any of the questions listed below (or you are considering a project that will), please let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
