The Mammal Society has a number of national or regional projects that aim to maximise involvement in mammal monitoring by members and the general public. We also advertise projects being run by other organisations to collaborate with wider mammal conservation efforts.

National Mammal Atlas Project (NMAP)

Submit records of sightings(or tracks, signs or sounds) to help map mammal distribution across the British Isles for the first time since 1991. Records since the year 2000 will be collated from numerous sources, from ad hoc sightings to local record centres, to create as complete a picture as possible.

MaMoNet Wales - A Mammal Monitoring Network in Wales

This 18 month project running until September 2015 aims to establish a network of active mammal recorders and monitoring in Wales, to help identify any population changes, especially among two species in particular - hedgehogs and harvest mice.

Current Projects Database

In our aim to promote involvement in mammal conservation across the country, we hold database of projects being run across the British Isles by various groups and organisations, which need the help of volunteers to make them a success. Search our database of current projects in mammalogy to get involved as a volunteer in important mammal research and conservation activities.
