We are keen to help everyone appreciate Britain’s wild mammals and believe one of the best ways to do that is to train people in the skills needed to identify, record, track, or monitor mammals. In addition, our courses help participants understand the status and legislation surrounding different species and provide up-to-date information on how to conserve our natural heritage.
Every year we take our suite of training courses all over the United Kingdom, training everyone from interested armchair ecologists to students to environmental consultants.
We have a team of trainers based all over the country, who are selected for both their knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject. You will soon be able to download profiles of our current trainers. Although courses cover a standard syllabus, each individual trainer will add their own personal touch and experiences.
PLEASE NOTE - THIS COURSE WILL NO LONGER BE RUNNING IN 2010 AND WILL BE RESCHEDULED FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2011. PLEASE CONTACT ROWENA, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.
This weekend workshop is aimed at field ecologists who wish to make more use of molecular and other non-invasive methods in the identification, survey and monitoring of wild mammals. There will be sessions on forensic DNA testing; this is a major research interest at Waterford - the talks will focus on the practical questions ranging from its advantages to the costs and pitfalls of DNA testing.
