Mammals in the Spring

Welcome to our 'Mammals in the Spring' photograph competition. The competition is open to anyone with a camera and a passion for mammals.

First prize is a copy of Mammals of the British Isles: Handbook 4th Edition, worth £60! Three runners up will each receive their choice of publication from The Mammal Society series, subject to availability.

WINNER - Silviu Petrovan with Baby Rabbit

Judges comments: A beautiful spring portrait of the next generation of this often under-appreciated mammal.

FIRST RUNNER UP - BRIAN KILFORD with Warring Weasels

Judges comments: Mammals are very active in spring whether they're playing, mating or fighting. This image captures the energy in this moment perfectly.

SECOND RUNNER UP - SUSAN SHARAFI with Underwater Otter

Judges comments: A lovely 'otter's-eye-view' of a watery world, the movement in this image highlights their streamlined body that makes them excellent swimmers.

THIRD RUNNER UP - DEREK CRAWLEY with Eating Your Greens

Judges comments: A lovely, simple image of a grey squirrel bathed in spring sunshine. Although not native, they bring joy to those who like to see wildlife up close.

Thank you to everyone else who submitted their images to us. Although not everyone could be a winner, they were all lovely photos.
